Video Streaming Service in Internet

Abstract

Video streaming service becomes one of major applications for next generation
broadband services. Internet has the unique characteristics to distribute
digital video streaming service compare to the other media.  Digital video
service using Internet can be an Interactive TV, VOD, or webcasting services.
Digital video can be watched though various terminal including PC and TV. This
presentation shows these service approaches.
The typical service model for Internet video streaming services is shown as an
example. Some experiments performed in Korea and Japan are introduced with
short demonstration.
To provide video streaming service using Internet, some issues should be
tackled. Those issues include access networks, video streaming format,
multicasting, and terminal.
